Jesus came to fulfil the promise made in Isaiah that the Messiah would be the Prince of Peace. There is no peace in the world or in our hearts because we are not at peace with God. Jesus' mission was to reconcile us to God by his death on the Cross so we have the basis for peace with God, and with ourselves and others. Although we do not see perfect peace now, his mission was successful. We can have peace with God now and the promise that one day all who know him will be at peace.

God with us – Family Carol Service 2011
The birth of Jesus is the fulfilment of the promise of Isaiah 9 that the Messiah will be God with us.
God with us in Jesus means that he shows us completely what we need to know about God, he shares our humanity, he demonstrates that he cares for us and that he knows all about our life experiences.

Hebrews 12:14 to 29: Warning - do not refuse God
Keeping going in the Christian life is a personal choice but it’s also a community responsibility. Together we spur one another on, and together we try to root out bitterness or disharmony. We are to strive for peace and holiness all the time, remembering that we came to the heavenly mountain not the earthly fearful one that the Israelites hardly dared approach. Here we worship God with confidence but at the same time with reverence and awe.

John 16:5 to 16 - The Spirit's work
What does the Holy Spirit do in the world and in the church? In John 16 Jesus explains that when he departs the Holy Spirit comes bringing conviction to the world about their sin in rejecting Jesus, of the perfect righteousness in Jesus and the reality of judgment.
The Holy Spirit will also guide first the disciples, and then through them, the church into all truth about Jesus in the past present and future, always with the spotlight on Jesus, and in that way bringing glory to God the Father.
